Unused skincare: check your shelf before buying
Not using a bottle often is a reason to review it, not a safety verdict.

Sort your shelf into four groups: everyday products, occasional products with a known purpose, bottles you have not used for a long time, and purchases whose purpose you have forgotten.
Then check when each was opened, its storage conditions and the label’s expiry or period-after-opening guidance. A frequently used bottle needs these checks too.
Do not assume that a normal appearance or an unexpired date alone guarantees safety. If odor, color or texture changes, or the product irritates your skin, stop using it. Ask the brand when its history or condition is unclear.
The FDA explains that shelf life depends on product type, use and storage. Do not finish an uncertain bottle merely to avoid waste. Organize what remains useful, clarify unknown products, then decide whether your routine actually needs something new.
These articles use the Director’s Taiwan ICD routine as an example. Product names, formulas, sets and directions can differ by market. Check the packaging and your local official RIMAN store before use or purchase.
